三、In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Cyber Fair project both on-line and in person?

In this project, we combined the resources from the community, school, and society, and allowed every participant to learn more about the community culture and the importance of natural resources. We mainly had contacts with community elders, cultural workers, and river rangers, and worked with volunteer teachers from the Department of Educational Informatics at Fo Guang University. This project is also entered into the Cyberfair so that people around the world can learn about Kiyang Village.

四、What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Although this project should be about information that we could learn from daily life, such as the history of Kiyang Village, weaving culture, and natural resources, we didn’t find those in our daily life. Some students didn’t know how to weave and fishing, or the significance to protect the rivers. Through this project, we surprisingly learned so much value culture and resources of Kiyang Village, and became more attached to this place. Through this project, we have developed position identification and mission toward Kiyang Village.

六、Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises:

In this project, we gained so much. Since our team is consisted of students from third to sixth grades, our lack of proficiency in IT skills has caused us many troubles. Yet, as we practiced more, our skills improved, and we were encouraged to work harder.

When we were interviewing the community elders, we were very nervous and anxious. Yet after several interviews, our interview skills improved, and the elders were very pleased with our growth.

Through this project, we further understood Atayal culture, and learned about the abundant natural and cultural resources in Kiyang. We want to establish a website about Kiyang community, so that more people can learn about the beauty of Kiyang.
